what is klife

KLIFE is a community wide interdenominational Christian ministry centered in Frisco, Texas. KLIFE works alongside churches, schools, and families to teach and encourage kids to be strong in the Lord in spite of all the worldly pressures they face as teenagers.

The heartbeat of KLIFE is discipleship. We get to a place of authentic discipleship by emphasizing our small group ministry. Kids can join small groups that meet weekly or bi-weekly with a KLIFE staff or volunteer leader to learn more about God and how to develop an abiding relationship with Him. These groups allow for spiritual growth, development of peer relationships that encourage accountability, and individual growth and support.

In addition to our small group strategy are the more visible components of our ministry: bi-weekly Klub meetings, activities, events and retreats. Klub consist of songs, games, skits, and talks that contain a lesson with a relevant life application from the Bible. Our theme this Spring is the book of Ephesians! We want students to understand how the Gospel causes us to walk out of darkness and into the light. "1 And you were dead in the trespasses and sins in which you once walked, following this course of this world…4 But God being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which He loved us, 5 even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ — by grace you have been saved…10 For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.” Ephesians 2:1-10

We seek to encourage and equip our students to love and embrace an abiding relationship with Jesus, which leads to an abundant life both now and eternally (John 10:10).

NDKL Belief statements

The Bible

We believe the Bible is the inspired, inerrant, infallible, authoritative Word of God, written through men for the faith and instruction of all people. The Word of God is reliable and sufficient to reveal the character of God, inform people how to live, and act as the ultimate standard of truth for doctrine and practice (2 Timothy 3:16-17; 2 Peter 1:20-21; John 17:17).

The trinity

We believe in the trinity of the Godhead: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. God is one in essence and exists as three persons, each being fully God (Matthew 28:19; 2 Corinthians 13:14).

We believe man was created innocent in the image of God to represent Him and bring glory to Him. In Adam, man rebelled against God, bringing both physical and spiritual death into the world. Therefore, mankind is inherently sinful by nature and by choice. Because of this, mankind stands condemned, deserving of eternal separation from God (Genesis 1:27, 3:19; Ephesians 2:1-3; Romans 6:23)

We believe that salvation comes by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone, apart from works. Salvation is a gift from God, through the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ is the only means of salvation. One is saved by his or her personal and conscious decision to trust in the provision of Christ, thus sealing them with His Holy Spirit and securing their eternal redemption . (Ephesians 2:8-10; Romans 8:1; Ephesians 1:13; Acts 4:12).

We believe the universal Church is the body of Christ, with Jesus Christ as the head. The church is a spiritual organism made up of born-again persons who are united by the Holy Spirit. The Church began at Pentecost and is separate from Israel. We believe the Church’s ultimate mission is to bring glory to God by making disciples through prayer, the teaching of God’s Word, fellowship, and the proclamation of the gospel in our community and throughout the entire world (Matthew 28:19-20; Colossians 1:18; Ephesians 1:22-23; Romans 9-11).

The church

We believe in the personal, imminent return of Jesus Christ for the Church. Following this event comes the great tribulation and Second Coming of Jesus Christ to rule the nations, establishing His millennial kingdom on earth, thus leading to the final judgment of sin, and the establishment of the new heavens and new earth (1 Thessalonians 4:13-18; Revelation 20:1-6, 11-15; Matthew 24:21, 27-31; Revelation 21:1-4; Revelation 20:1-6).

Meet the Staff

Thomas Maurer • Chapter director

Thomas Maurer is from St. Louis, Missouri and graduated from the University of Missouri with a Bachelor of Arts in Communication, as well as a minor in Business. During his time in school Thomas served as a small group leader with Columbia KLIFE, a huddle leader with St. Louis FCA, a counselor at Kanakuk K7, and as an intern in his local church. Thomas’ greatest passion in life is to point people to the cross of Jesus Christ, teaching all people to know, love, trust, treasure, and obey Him above everything and anything. Thomas is excited to be joining the staff this year in North Dallas! You can easily find him playing sports, eating some good Tex-Mex, and cheering for the New England Patriots.

JESSICA COATS • women's director

Jessica Coats attended the University of Oklahoma and graduated with a Bachelors of Business Administration in Energy Management, with minors in Finance and Non-Profit Organization. She then went on to the Sky Ranch Legacy Fellowship- a year long leadership program. After this, she moved to Dallas, TX where she worked for Watermark Community Church as their Family Ministry Assistant. She then stepped into Watermark’s Institute as a Fellow- a ten-month long deep dive into the Word of God, theology, church leadership, and hands on experience. You can easily find Jessica exploring a place she’s never been, being outside, playing sports or enjoying a cup of coffee with a friend.

Want to get involved with KLIFE?!

KLIFE’s goal is to disciple, mentor, encourage, and support the teenagers in North Dallas. One of the major ways we accomplish that is through college students and young professionals who volunteer their time to pour into the kids. There are three ways that we invest in kids; club, small group, and one-on-one.

Understand our Volunteer Application Process:

  • Step 1: Meet with one of our full time paid Staff members to discuss areas of involvement, ask any questions, and begin the process of being a volunteer.
  • Step 2: Fill out the 5 page Volunteer Application HERE.
  • Step 3: City, county, state and federal background checks are run and all references are called and questioned.
  • Step 4: Personal interview with one of our full time paid Staff members.
  • Step 5: Attend our monthly Volunteer training meetings.

KLIFE Ministries has zero tolerance for abuse. We take abuse seriously and do prosecute to the fullest extent of the law. To ensure the safety of the kids involved, completion of the application process is mandatory in our screening process. Interactions with youth will be monitored and a code of conduct must be signed and adhered to.

small groups

The heart of our ministry is small groups. Each small group is led by one or two KLIFE volunteers who have a heart for ministry and working with kids. Each volunteer has been through an interview process with a staff member, has received a background check, and has signed a commitment to follow Christ in their own life. Last year our leaders spent over 14,000 hours with their small group kids!

Small group times will be determined by the leader of the group based on when everyone is able to meet. The groups are assembled according first to gender, then by groups of friends. Our hope is to bring groups of kids together to build accountability and Christ-centered relationships.
